The assignment was to make a two-page editorial version of an article from "Psychology Today".
I chose the "Gender: Is It Real?" by Catherine Aponte Psy.D. I chose that topic because our understanding of gender is changing, such as what it means and if gender is important.
The obstacle I ran into was, how do I visualize this abstract concept. One of my ideas was to either illustrate or photograph an androgynous person. But I wanted to be less literal.
For this editorial, I chose to have the images more focused on clothing, since, in our society, clothes represent our gender. But clothes have no gender by itself. I decided to connect the two.
